A medieval village perched in a low Valmarecchia hill, at 330 m above sea level, with breathtaking vistas: the soft Marecchia Valley and the sparkling Romagna Riviera. The historical centre is a maze of alleyways, with the Piazza Malatesta in its centre, the starting point for visiting the town, the Civic Archaeological Museum and the Malatesta Fortress. In the Justinian monastery, the museum houses an excellent collection of remains, witness to the artistic sophistication of the Villanovan facies.

The Sasso Fortress is one of the largest and best preserved of the Malatesta fortresses, and probably Malatesta da Verrucchio was born here; Dante called him Mastin Vecchio, a great Guelph leader who conquered Rimini in 1295 and established the Malatesta Signoria.

Must-sees:

The Civic Archaeological Museum which houses an amazing relic: the wooden throne from the "Lippi 89" tomb. The special chemical-physical conformation of the land has allowed for the excellent preservation of funereal crypts, including their wooden elements. The throne is decorated with carving figurative scenes from everyday life.

At the foot of the Fortress there is the Rimini Golf Club, a beautiful green with 18 holes in the Marecchia riverbed.
