The International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, founded by Gaetano Ballardini in 1908, represents the most important devoted entirely to ceramics museum in the world.
It collects about 60,000 ceramics of which more than 6,000 are on display in a fascinating journey that occupies an area of 11,000 square meters.
The collection offers to visitors works from all over the world, result of centuries of history: pre-Columbian, Middle East, Far East and throughout Europe ceramics. Modern and contemporary masterpieces represent the work of masters of art history such as Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, Leger, Fontana, Burri and many others.
The museum, cultural center for pottery, houses a historic specialized library, an educational and a restoration laboratory. From 2011 is one of the UNESCO sites promoting cultures of peace as "MIC expression of ceramic art in the World."
