Travel plan:
1st Day – RAVENNA
Arrival to Ravenna, dinner and overnight.
2nd Day – RAVENNA
Ravenna, the city where Dante, finding asylum at the court of Guido Novello da Polenta, spent the last years of his life, but also the city where Francesca knew that Paul was the attorney of his brother Gianciotto marriage. Visit the Mausoleum of Galla Placida, the Christian funerary monument of rare beauty, the S. Vitale Basilica, masterpiece of early Christian and Byzantine art, the basilica of St. Apollinaris Nuovo, born as a place of worship Aryan, and then consecrated to St. Martin of Tours of the Palace of the Da Polenta and the home of Francesca. Free lunch. Dinner and overnight.
3rd Day – RAVENNA
In the morning visit to the Tomb of Dante, to Quadrarco of Braccioforte where in 1865 were found the remains of Dante and the Basilica of St. Francis where his funeral was held. Free lunch. In the afternoon departure Rimini, dinner and overnight.
4th Day - FIORENZUOLA / GRADARA / MONDAINO
Always led by Dante and pushed by the "wind of Focara", you get to Fiorenzuola, located in the San Bartolo Natural Park hill. The ancient village, situated on top of a cliff between Gabicce and Pesaro, owes its fame to the fact that it has hosted Dante Alighieri in the baker's house in the country. Then continue to Gradara and visit the famous castle where the tragic love between Paolo de 'Malatesta and Francesca da Polenta (better known as Francesca da Rimini) blossomed and was consummated, the in-laws-lovers eternalized by Dante Alighieri. Free lunch. In the afternoon we will continue to Mondaino with its Malatesta fortress and the nineteenth-century porch. We will visit the beautiful village till we reach the "Porta di Sotto" where we will find the "Mulino delle Fosse of Porta di Sotto, with the three large wells for the production of cheese of the pit. Stop at the "Centro Dante St. Gregory in Conca" for a tasting of aged cheese cheered by the reading of Dante's verses. Return to Rimini, dinner and overnight.
5th Day - RIMINI E VERUCCHIO
Visit Rimini, the beautiful historic city center surrounded by the ancient medieval walls, the Arch of Augustus, the Tre Martiri Square, the Tiberius Bridge, up to the Malatesta Temple and Sismondo Castle. Free lunch. In the afternoon departure to Verucchio, known as the "Cradle of the Malatesta" with its majestic Rocca and The Archaeological Museum which is home to several exhibits of famous Villavoniana civilization for the commercialization of amber and distant cousin of the Etruscans. Return to Rimini and back to places of origin.
