Then visit the Museum of Sacred Art and popular religiosity dedicated to Beato Angelico and continue to Giotto's House Museum in Vespignano village. Dinner and overnight.

2nd Day - FLORENCE

Full day excursion to the city of Florence, a guided tour "in the footsteps of the Medici": we start with Palazzo Medici Riccardi that offers the visitor the chance to retrace over four centuries of art history, architecture and collections in Florence and we continue with San Lorenzo district with a visit to the Basilica of San Lorenzo, the church of the Medici. Inside the works of Michelangelo, Donatello and Brunelleschi. Free lunch. In the afternoon visit of Palazzo Vecchio that for more than seven centuries is the symbol of Florentine power, Piazza della Signoria where you will also find the Neptune Fountain built by Cosimo I de 'Medici and Palazzo Pitti built by the Pitti family on Filippo Brunelleschi project, then sold to the Medici who turned it into the residence of the family. The building overlooks the famous Boboli Gardens, the prototype of the "Italian garden" created by the Medici. Dinner and overnight.

3° giorno - SAN PIERO A SIEVE / SCARPERIA

Visit the old town of San Piero and walk towards the Fortress of San Martino built by Cosimo I in 1569, with the contribution of Bernardo Buontalenti in the construction. Built with the aim to defend Florence, it was equipped with effective systems to withstand sieges, such as tanks, warehouses for food and weapons, kitchens, windmills, armories and furnaces to melt guns. The mountain on which it stood was crossed by a secret passage leading to the river, to bring the horses to drink. Today visited only from the outside because is a private property. Visit the convent of Bosco ai Frati founded before the year one thousand. In 1420 Cosimo de 'Medici had it rebuilt both the church and the convent on Michelozzi design. The Medici left to the convent many precious gifts including a wooden crucifix attributed to Donatello. Free lunch. Afternoon transfer to Scarperia, the "shoe" that is, at the foot of the Apennines. Visit the old town and the Palazzo dei Vicari. The fourteenth-century plant, has suffered numerous restorations and transformations over the centuries. The facade of the building collects traces of the Medici power with the coats of arms of the family members who played at different times the important Republican charge. The Palace, as well as hosting a valuable historical archive and the antique clock of the bell tower, work of the great Florentine architect Filippo Brunelleschi, is home to the Museum of Cutting Tools, production of which Scarperia boasts centuries of high production. Dinner and overnight.

4th Day - MARRADI / BRISIGHELLA

Departure by train from Borgo San Lorenzo to Marradi, whose urban structure is unusual for a mountain village. The noble families such as the Torriani of Milan or the Fabroni of Pistoia, exiled here, would not give up the prestige and comfort. Palazzo Torriani, which dates back to the 16th century, it is a clear testimony. Every Sunday of the month of October there is the famous "Chestnut Festival". Free lunch. In the afternoon, always by train, leaving for Brisighella, medieval village nestled at the foot of three chalk pinnacles on which stand the imposing Manfredi Fortress, built by Francesco Manfredi in 1310 and completed by the Venetians in the sixteenth century, the Clock Tower, built in 1850 and Monticino Sanctuary, of ancient Marian tradition dating back to the eighteenth century. The old town is dominated by the ancient Via del Borgo, elevated road and blanket, unique in the world, known as the Via degli Asini, for the shelter that offered to the animals of the carters who lived there.

Godi, Fiorenza, poi che se' sí grande,

che per mare e per terra batti l'ali,

e per lo 'nferno tuo nome si spande!

(Inferno, Canto XXVI)

Fiorenza mia, ben puoi esser contenta

di questa digression che non ti tocca,

mercè del popol tuo che si argomenta.

Molti han giustizia in cuore, e tardi scocca

per non venir sanza consiglio all'arco;

ma il popol tuo l'ha in sommo della bocca.

(Purgatorio, Canto V)

Fiorenza dentro dalla cerchia antica,

ond'ella toglie ancora e terza e nona,

si stava in pace, sobria e pudica.

(Paradiso, Canto XV)

Tu lascerai ogne cosa diletta

con la qual tu cadrai in questa valle;

(Pd., canto XVII)
